What are the characteristics of a good graphite carbon additive?
.A good graphitized carbon additive should feature high carbon content, rapid decomposition rate, and high absorption efficiency.
.It should contain extremely low levels of harmful elements, characterized by low sulfur and low nitrogen content.
.When adding graphitized carbon additive to molten steel or iron, it should be introduced in layers to ensure more even distribution. This helps refine its dispersion in the melt and improves absorption and performance stability.
.In practice, selecting the appropriate particle size based on the furnace size, power, and melting time is crucial. Commonly used sizes are 0.2–2mm and 1–5mm.
